The Story
In the beginning, there was nothing.
There was nothing, and yet there was 'something' at the same.
This 'something' could sense the vast land of emptiness it existed in.
This existence was known as Nero.
Nero lived in its natural homeland of darkness for an indefinite period of time...
Until one day, Nero grew discontented.
What was the point of existing if there was nothing else around?
Why did it exist at all?
Not only was there nothing to witness Nero, but Nero had nothing to witness except its own existence.
And Nero's sense of self, was, well... nonexistent. It had no identifiers, no image, no opinions to be attached to. To Nero, there was nothing, except for the knowledge that it 'existed'.
That was the only evidence... that there was really 'something.'
♦
And so, perhaps from boredom, or that feeling of dissatisfaction... Nero began to create 'dimensions.'
These were different from the endless void that Nero called home.
These were spaces with certain characteristics. They had colors, textures, and shapes.
These dimensions provided a more interesting type of space to exist in.
And yet, no matter how many dimensions Nero created, it still wasn't enough.
Because these dimensions were an extension of Nero, it couldn't exactly experience these places in the same way.
For Nero was the place, just as much as it was observing the place.
"If only there were beings which could experience these worlds firsthand," Nero thought.
And that's when it had an idea.
Nero decided to create the first living beings, specially-made to interact with these new worlds through 'senses.'
Finally, Nero wasn't alone, and there was a purpose to the space after all.
That was all well and good, until Nero began to feel a twinge of sadness, and even jealousy that it could not be a part of things.
At first, it was content to just watch.
But as time went by, Nero began to notice that the beings were becoming misguided.
If it didn't do something, the beings it created would take their lives for granted, living in too much ignorance...
So, for the first time ever, Nero decided to go down and experience life the same way it had always dreamed of.
"If I split my being across two bodies, then I can simultaneously oversee everything and experience life from down below."
...That was Nero's plan.
Perhaps it really was certain that this plan would work; after all, everything up until now had worked just fine.
However, not even Nero could have guessed what would come next after trying to do such a thing.
...In the aftermath...
There were three bodies.
Not two, but three.
And from that moment on, if the 'Nero' from before still existed somewhere, then it certainly wasn't in any of these three.
For each one represented one third of Nero's overall consciousness.
...I wonder if that was such a good idea..?
